In recent times, there’s been a consistent nudging in my heart, a voice telling me that I have all I need to succeed and achieve the purpose of God for my life. My heart has been at peace and the way I view life’s challenges is changing. I have radiated a new level of confidence that I did not know I was capable of. Something is changing about me.
This change is based on the reality I discovered in the Word. It’s a simple line that tells me that God’s divine power has given me everything I need for life and godliness. Upon discovery of this truth in my bible, I kept rubbing my eyes to be sure that I did not have a speck blurring my vision. Could this be for real or was there a mistake in the original manuscript? I kept pondering on this line till I became sad and angry at the same time.
I was sad because of the many times I felt helpless, lonely and abandoned by God. Sad for the times I cried out of illness, pain or disappointment yet content that I was serving God. I was angry at how I had denied myself of goodness and mercy. I felt like one who had an open cheque from the richest man in the world, yet lived in starvation and penury. I had been careless and foolish all this while, depriving myself of the benefits that came with my salvation.
I have always been faithful to God, my life fully dedicated to Him. I was passionate about righteousness, graceful about giving and diligent in my service to God. But I was also ignorant of the great and precious promises that come with knowing God. I had lived in oblivion of the promises that were designed to enable me partake in the divine nature and escape the world’s corruption.
It occurred to me that I could live above all the ‘normal’ things that afflict the human race. I could live above sin, sickness, pain, disease, greed, poverty, shame, foolishness, barrenness, etc. The very thing that Eve sought in the garden that led to disobedience has been freely given unto me – I am a partaker of divinity.
I am excited that I believe in One who looks out for my interest much more than I could ever think. The compensation and benefits that come from knowing and serving God surpasses anything I could ever know or see. He provides a fantastic employee share ownership scheme that made me a joint heir with His son – Jesus Christ. In short, I would always cast my vote for God as the world’s ‘Employer of Choice’ who provides everything you ever need to make a success of the purpose He has appointed for you.
In recognition of this truth, I dusted ashes off my clothing. Arose and walked with my head held high in the sky. I am wealthy and I have access to limitless resources.
Please do yourself a favour by taking time out to search out the truth of the word by yourself. Your conviction will be deeper and there will be a manifestation in your life as you believe without any doubt that indeed, God has given you everything you would ever need for life.
Let’s enjoy divinity together.

May You Forget and Remember
For every individual in this world, he/she would likely use the words ‘Forget’ and ‘Remember’ at least once a day. Both words could be expressed in various languages and are often used to explain instances of tasks left undone, uncelebrated anniversaries, unsent greeting cards/notes/ letters, late or missed appointments, etc.
Forgetting in itself is not a bad action. Actually, I wish you forgetfulness. Yes! I wish you forgetfulness in the New Year. I wish that you would forget the things that are behind and forge ahead to the greater things ahead of you. I really wish you would forget the hurts, pains and abuse you have been through. I wish you will always forget to take another stick of cigarette or shot of alcohol to douse your sorrows. I wish you would always forget to keep that appointment that has been carefully designed to lead you to an illicit relationship. I wish you would totally forget the path that leads to sin, your clique of friends that support you in sin and the places you gather to further promote sin. I really do wish you perpetual forgetfulness in these areas and other areas that you should forget.
On the other hand, I also wish you remembrance. May you daily remember that God forgives your sins, heals your diseases, redeems you from death and crowns you with love and tender mercies.
Do remember the wedding vows you made to your spouse, especially in the events of mid life crises, menopause, cellulite, wrinkles, the ‘other woman’, sickness and all forms of weakness. I wish that you would also remember all the good times you have shared with your good friends and forget to let go of them when you have misunderstandings and bad quarrels.
Remember to keep appointments, big and little. Forget not to call back when you have promised and strive to remember birthdays and anniversaries.
May you always remember to be good and give heartily to your family, friends, colleagues, supervisors, subordinates, church members, non church members, believers, unbelievers and enemies. Further more, may you never forget the poor and lonely.
With all my heart, I wish you always remember to read your bible, pray for others and yourself on a daily basis. Also remember that you will always reap what you sow and that you are only passing through this world as a route to your final destination – Eternity.
Above all, may you always remember to say ‘Thank you’ for every little act of kindness; ‘No’ to all actions that are not in line with God’s plan and purpose for your life and ‘Yes’ to God’s will.
I wish you a forgetful and remembrance filled year.

I Am Getting Married

My wedding invitation reads thus:
It’s Our Big Day!
Precisely thirty (30) days from now, I shall be walking down the aisle wrapped in the hands of my father. Thereafter, I shall be joined in holy matrimony to my best friend, brother and lover. I will slide a ring into his finger after he slides a ring into mine as we look into each other’s eyes to see the sparkle of pure love, hope and joy that marks the foundation laying for our union.
I am very excited as I look forward to this day and the years after. I am glad for this awesome opportunity to share my life with the man of my dreams. Most importantly, I am confident of the joy that lies ahead and the grace to handle the challenges that wander along.
To this end, I ask you to kindly set aside the 23rd day of August, 2008 as a day to share the joy of two people in love, Toyosi and leke. Come experience the fusion of two beautiful hearts, minds, and bodies at any of the following events:

Let the Children's Table Be!!!

I walked into the restaurant, striding confidently and fully armed with the French words I needed for successfully ordering my dinner. I greeted the waiters in French as I walked past a table with a white woman seated with a boy and girl. The children looked like they were between the ages of three (3) and five (5). I quickly took a table close to the children’s table as I succumbed to my weakness for making friends with children.
Shortly, after I took my seat, a black, suspicious looking man took a seat beside the white woman at the table I would love to call the ‘Children’s Table’. He talked to the children in a very familiar manner which made me infer that he could be their father. The children were comfortable with him.
I usually enjoy smiling and waving at children so I was looking forward to a fun filled evening. I was happy when the little boy looked at me; I looked at his lovely eyes and was instantly drawn to him. The little girl’s hair also caught my attention as she backed me. I noticed the children had features representing a mix of African and European blood. Perhaps, the man and woman were the parents of the children….
By this time I had placed an order for my dinner effortlessly, thanks to the fact that the waiter was English speaking (oops!!). My food arrived and I began to enjoy the French cusine, taking my attention away from the children. I enjoyed the fillet but I knew something was missing, and then I remembered the faithful chili sauce that makes food go down well for me. Yes, that was it, I must request for my chili sauce, even if I had to use ‘sign’ language to communicate my request. I raised my head to call the waiter, only to behold a saddening and thought provoking sight at the ‘Children’s Table’.
My eyes opened wide and I watched with deep contempt as the man and woman puffed their cigarettes right in front of the children. The man was sitting across the little girl while the woman was sitting across the little boy. I keep using the terms ‘man’ and ‘woman’ to describe this couple as I consider it sacrilegious to use the word parent for either of them. I found the man most annoying because he kept puffing out thick whirls of smoke right into the face of the little girl.
The children sat still, looking slightly uncomfortable but putting up no resistance whatsoever and it occurred to me that this was not new to them. They appeared relaxed and used to the scene I considered very uncomely. My heart sank as l looked away, loosing my appetite and zest for a relaxing evening. I was lost in thoughts with many questions crossing my mind. The ‘Children’s Table’ has been defiled!!!
I walked out of the restaurant, thinking of the best punishment for parents who deliberately influence their child negatively. How can we help children who are victims of the selfishness and waywardness of their parents? My heart bled for children who are being exposed to various forms of rottenness as a result of their parents’ refusal to behave responsibly.
I shudder to think of other things that the little boy and girl at the ‘Children’s table’ could be exposed to, without divine intervention, I shudder to think of the choices they will make in future. I am feverish at the ripple effect of such exposure on the moral foundation of the whole world.
I humbly ask you to teach your children well before they leave home. Teach them to make the right choices as they will definitely mingle with children whose tables have been defiled. If they make the wrong choice, it will affect them directly as well as bounce right back at you. Please make a commitment to responsible parenting, say and do the proper things in front of your children.
It’s your choice to defile your own table as an adult but please do not defile the ‘Children’s Table’. Let’s leave our children’s table filled with ice-cream, cake and other goodies.

Most Beautiful Thing I Know

There is a little secret I have kept in my heart for so long. It’s a revelation that is so dear to me and I am willing to guard it's sacredness for as long as I live.
My curiosity led me to this discovery. My adventurous heart longed to discover the most beautiful thing in life. At first, I thought it was a baby and then I thought it was a Butterfly; at other times I thought it was the setting of the sun or the blinking stars on a dark night.
I always had a camera with me, looking out for beautiful things and hoping to take the picture of something extraordinarily beautiful. I watched movies with nice-sounding titles, hoping to see the most beautiful scenes in them.
I continued my search for the most beautiful thing until it dawned on me that the most beautiful thing could not be seen with the eyes. In an instant, I knew that the most beautiful thing in life is Love.
I see it in the eyes of a mother and her child, I see it in the eyes of pure lovers, I see it in genuine friendships and the passion displayed by enthusiasts. Most of all, I see it in God’s expressions to me.
The sight and feel of Love is captivating and invigorating. It brings instant serenity to all who behold it. Love is fierce and cannot be intimidated, often impersonated yet distinguishable.
I may not know all the colours of love but I am certain that red and white depict love. I may not know Love’s height or depth but I know that it is higher than the skies and deeper than the oceans.
You may not be able to place your hands on the precise moment that Love comes, it could start on a fickle note, as fickle as a candle in the wind but it could get stronger to become a lighthouse, if mutually nurtured by the recipients of Love.
Love changes lives; rekindles hope and nourishes dreams. It gives you a reason to wake up to face the day and stronger reasons to sleep peacefully at night. It makes your steps springy, your eyes teary, and your heart melodious. It brings smiles to your face and makes you feel the best of you.
Love brings safety, confidence and unusual abilities. It is the best gift of a lifetime. My endless search for the most beautiful thing has culminated in the most amazing discovery.
You may contest my finding but I am persuaded that Love is the most beautiful thing. However, if you have a more beautiful discovery, please let me know.

Like Every New Year?
I have the pleasure of welcoming you into the year 2008. This is a great year. I can see, hear, feel and smell greatness in 2008. In all of my life, this is the first time I’d see a year ushered in with showers of rain in my part of the world. You may wish to interpret it anyway it seems best to you but as far as I am concerned, the rain brought showers of blessings. A sweet relief from the harmattan dryness.
Yes, the New Year is finally here, meeting with long lists of prayers, wishes, desires and resolutions. The excitement is strong and everyone is going frenzy with declarations and expectations for the year. In all of these, one thing that amazes me most is the way the euphoria dies down sooner than it started. Based on my experience over the years, I know that most people will fall back into their default mode by the 3rd week of January. They forget the sweet declarations and resolutions concerning the year and simply go back to the way things used to be.
Year on year, people continue this vicious cycle till it is time to bid the earth goodbye. In a flash (if there is enough time), the summary of their lives run through their minds and it becomes clear that they had simply grown chronologically without adding true significance to their lives or the lives of others. They die and are buried with unexecuted resolutions, hopes and dreams. Once again, another empty life is buried in the cold grave.
Every human being has a distinct purpose and plan for his/her life. The responsibility of fulfilling that purpose lies with us because I know that God does not assign without making adequate provisions for carrying out the assignment. Let the quest for fulfilling purpose be a lifelong passion that transcends the surface ‘new year’ feeling. Demonstrate selflessness and recognize that you have something that the world is waiting for. Begin to live beyond the usual quest for the ‘good things’ of life. Those things will definitely come as you walk on the path to seek God and fulfill His purpose for your life.
Celebrate this year as a year of new beginnings and launch a life long mission of walking according to purpose. As you seek, you’d definitely find and rejoice to see what your life has become in the process of fulfilling God’s plan and purpose for your life.
Welcome to a new beginning.

"Almost" Doesn’t Count
How many times have you said this famous word ‘Almost’ in a regretful manner? ‘I almost won the race’, ‘I almost got that Job’, ‘I almost bought that house’, I almost did this and almost did that. If almost is a constant word in your vocabulary due to your laid back attitude and consistent state of inactivity, then please check your life to be sure that your life has a direction because ‘Almost’ doesn’t count.
Time and life present enormous opportunities to succeed but only those who are able to grasp opportunities at the right time truly succeed. Remove the word ‘Almost’ from your vocabulary and stop being chicken livered. Learn to recognise and take advantage of purposeful and life changing opportunities.
Now, I am not asking you to jump at every opportunity that presents itself. What I am asking you to do is to take advantage of the free gift of discernment that lies within you. Your relationship with the Holy Spirit gives you the edge and enables you to see what other people do not see. You could have access to see the end of a matter from the beginning just like your ‘FATHER’ does it. When everybody seems to be amiss as to what to do, you know exactly what to do.
Whether you like to hear this or not, you must know that this life presents equal opportunities to both believers and unbelievers alike. You will be amazed to discover that unbelievers are more adept at taking hold of opportunities than believers. While the believer is spending several weeks to pray and fast, the unbeliever would have grabbed the opportunity to his advantage. Of course, by the time the believer gets his ‘release’ to grab the opportunity, the opportunity could have been taken by someone else. Then, the believer shrugs his shoulder and says ‘It wasn’t meant to be’.
What I am emphasising is the need to consolidate your relationship with the Holy Spirit. He is a Person; who hears, sees, listens, speaks and directs. Usually, He tells you what to do at the moment you need to hear but if your heart is not used to hearing God speak, then you won’t recognise His voice when He speaks to your heart. Most times, apart from the prayer and fasting approach, we run left, right and center to hear what mere humans like us have to say. It’s amazing that we take time to seek the counsel of people who are older or more experienced than we are, yet we refuse to cultivate our ability to consult with the Ancient of Days who has been in this world before anyone of us.
As you spend more time knowing God and building a tangible relationship with Him, you will discover that wisdom comes with the package and you just know the right thing to do at almost every point in time. The Men of Old in the bible knew how to consult God; we hear such words as ‘Nehemiah perceived’, ‘David Inquired’, ‘Moses Heard’, etc
Don’t get me wrong, there is absolutely a place for fasting and praying to wait on God, but there are some life changing decisions that could be made within a second based on the quiet confidence that comes from your relationship with God. Some situations don’t afford the extra time you would have loved to spend in prayer to know if God is asking you to say Yes or No. You need to have a constant “Consultant” who is always available to tell you what you do. Aren’t you blessed that this “Consultant”, in the person of the Holy Spirit is yours for keeps, if you so desire.
I say again, check your life, if you are laden with countless missed opportunities, uncertainties and indecisions, then it will be a brilliant idea to check the depth of your relationship with God. Surely God wasn’t telling a lie when He said ‘You will hear a voice saying to you, this is the way, walk in it’. He wants to lead you aright, even with the simplest decisions of your life but He cannot do it without your cooperation.
The choice is absolutely yours.
